MOST WANTED : BEHIND THE HYPE

Well, unless you haven't been following us through our twitter, facebook, or the original Kidrobot thread (shame on you btw), then you know that our very first official Most Wanted show is just under two weeks away! Besides all the insane amounts of excitement all of us here at MW are feeling, we're working our asses off to make sure this show is something you soon won't forget! For you lucky fans in the Bay area, and for those of you who are actually flying down (you guys are f@#$ing amazing!) for opening night, we hope to see you guys there bright and early. Just kidding, the show isn't till 6:30pm so please don't show up at 6:30am, I'd feel like a major "A Hole" if you did. So until then, checkout the press release from 1AM gallery and prepare yourselves for one hell-of-a show!

"1AM, with curators Manny Rivas and James Brown, are proud to present “Most Wanted: Behind the Hype”,  a toy vinyl show featuring the best customizers in the game.  More than 25 artists were given Kidrobot platforms to showcase their creativity and skills.  Without any specific theme to address, everyone is pushing the boundaries of their own unique style.  The opening reception is on Friday, May 11^th, 2012 from 6:30 to 9:30pm and will run through June 10^th, 2012.

“The Most Wanted” (MW) is an artist collective that started in 2009 and created by Tim Munz, Igor Ventura, and Manny Rivas.  It is a custom Dunny series that pays homage to Kidrobot and their classic blind box series.  Bringing together a huge collective of talent from across the globe, MW1 and its’ predecessor, MW2, were instant successes with both series selling out in a matter of seconds.  Despite the continuing success of the collection, the founders’ goal remains the same: find and showcase the most competent up-and-comers in the scene and spread their talent across the globe.  One of the best ways to do that is to exhibit the incredible works at art galleries.

The “Most Wanted: Behind The Hype” show has no particular theme to limit the artists’ imagination.  Manny and James wanted everyone to bring their own distinctive styles to the table and present them on the most popular platforms out there, KidRobot’s Munnys and Dunnys. The focus of this exhibit is to display the true talent and passion that lies behind the hype.  What is the hype? Join us at the opening reception on Friday, May 11^th and find out!"

HE'S BACK. . .

Looks like "Birro" is back with a vengeance! From the original 15 that were created for last year's Most Wanted Series 2, it appears that this belligerent drunk of a clown will be multiplying in full on production form. And as rumors fly that it will be on the 8" platform, it'll be some sort of extremely limited release of 3"ers, 1 in 100 of them will have a diamond inside of it's head, etc etc. . .only time will tell. So sit back, keep those ears to the grapevine, and follow our boy, Chauskoskis, as his tongue loosens after a few shots of tequila. Congratz again Walter, very well deserved! And Kidrobot, big ups for going the extra mile to help "Birro" come to life ;)

"TAKE ME TO YOUR LEADER!" IT'S AN ANDROID INVASION!

Looks like another artist from the Most Wanted crew is at it again. Ryan the Wheelbarrow has used his ty_po design style to create an exclusive custom Andriod series to be sold through Dragatomi. Although the sale date is yet to be announced (be sure to follow @ryanthewheelbarrow to find out when these will drop), this is a drop you definitely don't want to miss (I really dig the one with the shifty eyes)! But if you feel the need and cant wait for some typography goodness, check out Ryan's store here and grab what you can while it lasts. You can even get a made to order dunny, how cool is that? "BREAKFAST AT MAGGY'S"

For those of you following the "all CATS" Charity Custom Dunny Series (put together by Tim Munz in participation with 5 other amazing artists), half of the limited edition prints will be up for sale today over at our shop at 12 noon PST! And for those of  you who haven't been following the series, well, here's your chance to get acquainted and help support a good cause by scoring some dope PAUSE (see what I did just there?!?). All proceeds will go towards helping Maggy (a once stray kitty who has found a good home with Tim and his girlfriend) in her recovery. Plus, for every print you buy you'll be entered to win a free blind box from the series, or a super limited laser engraved version of the "Breakfast at Maggy's" print on wood! The wood print is absolutely beautiful and is not for sale, so this is your only chance for scoring one! And at only $12 bux a pop, it's a win win situation ;)

PANDAS AND CHAINSAWS. . .UM, YEA. . .

PAUSE! is at it again. This time they have taken their Chainsaw Panda character off paper and brought it into the 3D world by using an 8" Dunny as their canvas! Now I usually don't like to throw the words, "@#$!%& awesome!" around, but this is in fact, @#$*%^! awesome! And if you're wondering if this violent little bastard is available for sale, the answer is no (sorry!). This was made for a private collector and shall be making it's way across the Atlantic very soon. "all CATS" : A CHARITY CUSTOM DUNNY SERIES!

Tim and a few other MW artists (among others) have gotten together to help an injured cat that Tim and his girlfriend found in their backyard a few weeks ago. The cat was in so much pain due to a serious injury to her back and was rushed to the vet the very next day. Luckily they were able to perform a surgery which saved her life, but it left Tim with a hefty bill. So after putting together an amazing line up, we bring you the "all CATS" Custom Dunny Series! Every cent will go to making sure Maggy the cat get's proper medical treatment, has a roof under her head, and food in her belly :)  Check out out more about the series and the down right mind blowing line up (including names like Betso, runDMB, Map-Map, and more) on the Kidrobot Boards!

WATCH OUT FOR THAT BIG PILE OF YETI SH. . .

Tearing up campsites, crapping in your bird feeder, and knocking down your snowmen, this angry Yeti is far from friendly, but what a magnificent bastard he is! Originally this was an 8" Dunny (yea, I know, right), but he can get away with passing off as an OG sclupt. PAUSE has definitely killed it (or should I say, brought to life) with yet another dope custom from their design studios all the way in Canada (ey?) ;]  And if you're thinking, "Ok, I need this, where's the bloody purchase link?!?", well, I hate to be the guy to ruin your day but this little fella was a commission for a private collector. Stings just a little bit don't it? But if you stick around you'll have a shot at scoring one of their pieces through MW3, and I gotta say, it's going to be one hell-of-a design! Or you may be able to squeeze on to their commission list (no promises), just hit up their link and you'll be able to find some contact info. MAD PROPS TO OUR BOY SERGIO MANCINI!

So after a month long hiatus, we're back with a huge grin on our faces! Our very own Sergio Mancini received some very nice recognition on Kidrobot's own online magazine, The Kronikle! In honor of him placing No.1 in the 2012 Munnyworld contest, Ryan the Wheelbarrow (who I should mention will be a part of the already amazing MW3 line up) sat down with Sergio for an in depth Q&A. The mysterious Golden Ticket Dunny for MW2 has final peered it's ugly head, and while under temptation no less. As much as I'd like to think that light will prevail, she's going to need something a little stronger than a carrot to get the job done. And what's with that wristwatch? Somehow, I don't think it's counting down for the next season of "Glee" to premiere. . .
